Besides Christmas, Easter is one of these holidays that is about spending time with family and friends. On these days it´s all about delicious food, spending the evenings together and a few days off. Some other bloggers and me decided to collect some ideas and inspirations for the Easter holdays.
After a colorful bouquet of recipes and DIYs I would like to give you an idea what you could do to escape from the family hustle this year, without traveling for a long time.
Amsterdam is already one of the most popular destinations for people from all over the world, but only a few tourists find their way to Haarlem, a small city that is only 20 minutes away from Amsterdam. What I love about the town is the fact that this city is not crowded and you can truly enjoy the charme of the original Netherlands.
Beside the fact that it is an amazing old town with many churches, here you also have the chance to enjoy small shops where you can get selfmade cheese and chocolate. Additionally, you will find one of the typical windmills of the Netherlands near the river Spaarne, a motiv you usually often find on postcards.
It´s the old charme that fascinated me the first minute I arrived here. For me I guess it´s an amazing short trip for Easter and a brilliant alternative plan in comparison to the crowded city Amsterdam with many tourists.
Furthermore, whenever you visit Haarlem, I also recommend to take a walk over the cobblestone streets at the Big Market up to the Jans church, buy a piece of chocolate at olala Chocola and enjoy your chocolate on the bench towards the De Adriaan windmill.
