Even though I’ve been visiting a lot of European cities, landscapes, and cultures, there are still some corners left to be explored. As I got the surprising call of a good friend from Argentina coming up for a tour through Europe, it didn’t take me long to make up my mind and join him.
When you talk to people who plan a trip through Europe, they normally give you names of cities like Paris, London, Milan or Prague that are on top of their list for spots to visit. In our case, we decide to do more of an island hopping tour. As I get the destination wish list from Quini, I am pretty surprised, because these places haven´t been on top of my wish list so far.
Our surprising first stop should be Zurich. From here we will continue our trip to Ibiza, followed by a short stopover on Formentera and one more stop on Mallorca. Keeping quiet first I quickly notice how my feelings get replaced by enthusiasm for sharing such an experience with a good friend.
Our journey starts in Zurich. The city fascinates through its charming alleys and is proximity to water like the Zurich lake or the Limmat river. On my first tour through the town, I walk down the Limmat and observe people jumping into the river, people who like to take up a sport and others having a walk on the promenade. To quickly enter into the metropolitan turmoil immediately after arriving is something I love on every journey.
It was our good fortune in Suisse – a good fortune bestowed on us by history – that one of Quinis friends Ajustina, has moved to Zurich a few years before. We have the pleasure to discover the brightly illuminated city by night, the best views of the town and the most amazing restaurants with our tour guide.
After 4 days we are leaving Zurich for Ibiza. Here it is our plan to discover the beaches and tapas restaurants during the daytime and the legendary clubs at night. This includes a day at the beach of Cala Tarida as well as dancing the night away at Ushuaia. This is where I have the best tapas at Bai Bai, a restaurant each one of you should try out at least once.
After being a bit tired of party crowds on Ibiza, we decide to take the ferry to Formentera. After arriving I immediately fall in love with the island. Everything here seems to be so different to what we have seen the days before. It is quieter and more relaxed compared to Ibiza. We grab a bike and start to discover the island on our own. What always comes with it: sun lotion, beach towel, camera and swimming shorts.
Even though we would love to stay here for longer, we take a plane to Mallorca. Here we rent an apartment in the old city of Palma. It´s the best location for our stay here because it´s close to the yacht harbor, small and cozy restaurants are around as well as bus stations to take us to the best beaches outside of Palma. Our lessor is amazing and always willing to show us how to get to the best spots close to our home. We enjoy our days on the beaches with some glasses of sangria, especially together with the presence of Ajustina, who joins us for two days.
Thinking about the time I had with the two of them seems like a dream to me. Even though we live so far away from each other, it feels like we´ve never been apart when we meet again. Even though I didn´t really have all of these spots on my bucket list before, I feel blessed having discovered each one of them.
