Aren´t we all looking for the perfect moment somehow? In times of crowded cities and stressfull working conditions, it seems that the sound of the ocean, beaches with white sand and a place without cars is the paradise which most of us are searching for. One of these places I was able to visit on my journey around the world is Gili Air.
Right before I went to the Gili islands I spend some weeks on Bali and didn´t even knew what to expect from the Gili islands. After my arrival on Gili Air it was like jumping into another world. Streets made of sand make it impossible for cars to drive here. The island is pretty small, so that you can reach everything by foot.
I was fascinated by the silence here. Restaurants in front of the beach, fresh fish, snorcling tourists and a warm breeze without any fumes fascinated me. This was the complete opposite of Bali with it´s never ending motorcades, hectic scramble and crowds of people.
These are places where you can loose yourself. The longer I stay here the more I would love to rest. I feel some kind of perfectionism I´m always looking for to escape the boredom of my daily life when I´m not travelling. It is this silence, the perfect moment we all are looking for, but how long could I be able to live with this silence? How long would it take until I would fall back into my hectic way of life. How long would I be able to enjoy this view without my mobilephone, my mails and all my apps?
Usually I spend several hours every day in front of my mobilephone to write mails, scrolling around social networks or answering comments. This time I decided to shut down my phone for the time I´m on Gili Air and tell myself that family, friends and follower will understand my decision.
A short time before I have left this paradise, I sat down on a tree close to the beach and enjoyed the waves of the ocean, the heat on my skin and observed all the diving boots outside on the open water.
Quite often we are talking about the perfect island and what it means to each one of us. We create a world to hide away from our daily live with all it´s pressure and liabilities, without realizing that we are maybe unable to live that way of life for the rest of our life.
This winter I and my family were on Gili. And that’s what I say: it is nice place. We have been transfered from
Lombok, the way took a few hours. Trawangan was waiting for us with its pretty warm sea water, cozy and cheap
(only 5 dollars per day!!) hotels. Islands is pretty small, I think it is plus cuz it makes my feel cosily.
By the way, we was transfered on speed boats by easygili. com The price – 225k. Not so expensive anyway.
