To find myself searching for moments that make me speechless, on my way around the globe, is something strange. Huge expectations were dissappointed while unexpected moments turned out into the biggest surprises.
It´s quite spontanous that I book my flight to Thailand, one of those destinations, I never really had on top of my travel list. Many of my friends love the country and already visited it several times. After all they told me, I start to getting excited to see the home of the Buddha by myself.
Pictures of gilded temple ornaments and endless beaches manifest themselves in my head, so that my enthusiasm is rising steadily. There is not much time left for me to pack my suitcase before we leave Hamburg towards Asia.
This time I decided to explore the islands that are located in the northern part of Thailand like Koh Samet, Koh Chang and Koh Kood (mentioned as one of the most secret spots at the GEO magazine). After arriving on Bangkok I’m going straight to the first island without wasting any time. My journey starts on Koh Samet, an adventure, that fascinates me from the beginning till the last second.
It´s kind of a surreal feeling to realize that I left the cold city of Hamburg less than twenty hours ago and now I´m in front of the Golf of Thailand, sitting on the beach, while the sun is shining. Previous doubts about that trip are blown away the first second I enter that place. Further more it exceeds my expectations.
We are almost alone on the beach of Ao Wao on Koh Samet, with our feet in the sand and the ocean in front of us. It´s a breathtaking scenery to see another tourist, who swings under a palm tree in front of the beach.
To cope with the heat in Thailand, a pair of shorts is necessary for a day on the beach. I have the luck to work together with many wonderful brands, I can always contact when I have a short term trip planned again. They are always willing to move mountains to send over some samples on time, before I leave Germany. One of these brands is “A Fish Named Fred”, based in Amsterdam. This outfit, we shot on our first day in Thailand, is a combination I fell in love with the first moment I saw it.
It´s absolutely relaxing for me to relax and hang loose, covered in a starfish print all over on that place.
