What Justin Timberlake for pop-music, is Guido Maria Kretschmer for German fashionistas. Besides his own fashion line he is the host of one of Germany´s most famous television shows called ‚Shopping Queen‘. Women love him and can´t wait to see what he says about the outfits of the candidates. His shows at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week are always crowded with German B- and C-list celebrities. They not only go there to see the show but also to do some small talk on the red carpet. In this season Guido is inspired by the Asian highlands ‚Altai‘. Unfortunately, I´m not able to find any connection to his inspiration in his collection. Instead it is marked by the use of different shades of bordeaux and chrysanthemums. He uses them as red print all over on long and short dresses, as well as metallic colored applications or embroideries on the necks and shoulders. Again he uses peplums as details on blouses and blazers. Details in lace set highlights on simple cuts. I have to confess that his creations are not for people in their twenties. Despite everything, 80 percent of my female friends love Guido Maria Kretschmer and would die to wear one of his dresses. It´s a pretty collection that fascinates the guests of his show with the choice of colors and details like the sleeves. What I miss this season is the show effect, which normally marks each of his runway presentations.
